Architectural Design and Project Management Services

Brear Associates were appointed by the Tove Valley Baptist Fellowship to initially undertake a Condition Survey of their chapels in two local villages in Northamptonshire.  Our survey reports identified that both Chapels needed significant repairs to most of the components of the building including the roofs.  One Chapel was also showing signs of structural movement.

A decision was made to sell on site for redevelopment and to focus on the other Grade 2 listed Chapel for extensive refurbishment, repair and for it to be extended to improve the facilities to allow both congregations to come together.

Brear Associates specified extensive repairs to replace a strip and reroof the chapel roof, extensive refurbishment of sash windows, damp proofing works utilising lime render , replacement of a timber ground floor and formation of a new two storey extension to provide inside toilets, a new kitchen, office for pastor and a small meeting room.  Full replacement of M&E services was also incorporated including a fire alarm and detection system.  Externally a well was found which had to be capped.  At the front of the site the terrace was extended with new purpose made railings set into a new stone boundary wall.

Brear Associates provided full design and project management services including full liaison with the Baptist Union who are the Planning Authority for any listed Baptist chapel.    The project was completed on time which given several unforeseen discoveries during the work showed the commitment of the Contractor.
